Orality and the Church

28 02 2014

Digital Technology challenges us to become involved in taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth using modern methods. The Executive Director of International Orality Network, Dr. Samuel Chiang is placing the challenge before the Church to seriously consider the implications of what all this means.
We asked him to share these thoughts with the Christian Church in Sri Lanka through the Direction Magazine, the only Evangelical Christian magazine serving that Island Nation.
We want to also share it with you, as it appeared on Page 10 and 11 of the February issue. Here is the link to the magazine.

“Before he finished praying …”!

12 02 2014

I was reading the story of Abraham’s servant, Eliezer going to find a bride for Isaac in Genesis chapter 24. What a fascinating story!
You could read the story in a few minutes, or you could slowly wind your way through the intricate details from the conversation between Abraham an old rich and successful man and one of his trusted “stewards” of his household, Eliezer. Eliezer then loads 10 camels with gifts for the prospective bride and her family.
Eliezer travels to Mesapotamia to the city where Nahor, Abraham’s brother lives. There he prays that God would make his trip successful.
But, ” … before he finished praying … ” God answers his prayer! Wouldn’t you like to have this kind of an answer to prayer? Wouldn’t you like to make your prayer life as effective as this?
For goosebumps and the rest of the story … Read Genesis chapter 24!
